Zoë Chavez is a current graduate student pursuing an MFA in Themed Entertainment from SCAD in Savannah, GA. In 2023, she graduated from UCLA with a BA in Theater, after which she began working at Disneyland as a Costumer Intern for a year. As she continues to pursue her studies, she is working part-time as a Historical Interpreter in Savannah.

Born and raised in San Diego, Zoë began building sets and props when she was 14 years old, and working as an event technician running lighting and sound boards when she was 15. This led to a passion for live entertainment, prompting her to her study theater design and production at UCLA, where she focused on costume and scenic design. She augmented her design pursuits with explorations in illustration, construction, and a passion for historical research. In addition to her theatrical studies, she also served as an officer for UCLA’s game development club, ACM Studio.

For her experience in designing content for theater and games, in 2022 Zoë was awarded the Marty Sklar Innovation in Entertainment Fellowship, during which she worked with UCLA’s Center for Research in Engineering, Media, and Performance (REMAP) on conceptualizing a new mixed reality theatrical experience based on The City & The City by China Miéville.

Zoë lets her various creative exploits inform each other within the world of immersive cross-media entertainment. Whether she is creating interactive experiences or working on her illustrations, Zoë believes in a holistic approach to design.
